the Path to better days

As a business we are taking small, but very important steps towards meaningful change. To continue to make things better, we’ve set ourselves some very clear ambitions and goals for the future. Goals that are in line with what science says is needed to fight climate change.  We need solutions that match the urgency of this global crisis.

As a brand, and as individuals, we need to use, reuse and repurpose more resources without needing new ones, making the circular economy a reality.

The BETTER sustainable journey

And that’s exactly what this is – a journey.  Tackling climate change is a daunting challenge for every one of us. As a fragrance brand, we need to be pragmatic and honest about what we can do and achieve along the way. Our guiding principle is to always be better. We’re always working on improving our practices and striving to make a positive difference in everything we do.

While working to improve sustainability, like all businesses we’re restricted and bound by the availability and accessibility of resources. We have tried our best to manufacture as much as possible here in Australia – currently, we manage to produce 60% of the BETTER brand within 100 km of our head office, a further 30% within Australian shores and only the remaining 10% offshore due to Australia simply not manufacturing some small pieces of the puzzle.

We feel really good about this important achievement – it goes a long way towards reducing our carbon footprint.

Better Packaging

We’ve looked at each and every piece of the packaging puzzle to ensure that nothing ends up in landfill.

refills

We believe that refills are an important part of the eco-packaging puzzle. Refillable packaging enables us (and you) to reduce the GHG emissions impact of the products we produce and you purchase. GHG emissions reduction become more significant over time, as refills replace the purchase of new bottles.

What is apco

We are extremely proud to be members of The Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO). This is a not-for-profit association leading the development of a circular economy for packaging in Australia. Their vision is to keep packaging materials out of landfill and retain the maximum value of the materials, energy and labour within the local economy.

2025 National Targets APCO

APCO is helping to deliver Australia’s 2025 National Packaging Targets by promoting circular packaging design, working to improve collection and recycling systems and education, and expanding markets for used packaging.

redcycle

The REDcycle Program is a recovery initiative for post consumer soft plastics. REDcycle teamed up with Coles, Woolworths and some of Australia’s most-loved brands to make it easy for consumers to keep plastic bags and soft plastic packaging out of landfill.

Since the program’s inception, REDcycle has collected enough pieces of used packaging to circle the world over 5.5 times. That’s over 900 million pieces of plastic (with a total weight of over 3600 tonnes) that’ll never end up in landfill, on our beaches or in our waterways.

Simply drop your soft plastics to your local Coles or Woolworths and REDcycle will do the rest. Play your part and simply.
